February Snow Storm

A wintery mix of rain, snow and ice moved into the Puget Sound region overnight causing power outages around our service area. Hard-hit areas include Thurston County and Kitsap County. This morning’s power outages are the result of fallen trees and limbs due to strong winds, branches heavy with snow and ice, and rain-saturated soils. The saturated ground can destabilize trees, making them more susceptible to collapsing.

We’ve opened our Emergency Coordination Center and local storm bases to coordinate outage restoration efforts, and crews will be working through the day to restore power to customers impacted by the snow storm.

As of 11:30 a.m., there are about 15,600 customers without power, down from approximately 36,000 at the peak of the storm.
